Our Advocacy Statement

The Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce plays a significant role in advocating for the interests of local businesses at both local and state government levels. We advocate to ensure our community has the opportunity to thrive and grow, and our businesses can remain competitive. Below are the ways in which we may advocate through our Committee on Political Affairs (COPA):

  1. Identify Key Issues: We may identify issues that are important to the local business community. These can range from tax policies, regulatory changes, infrastructure projects, to economic development initiatives.
  2. Form Issues-Based Committees: We may form additional committees made up of members and other stakeholders to work on long-term issues.
  3. Develop Policy Positions: We may develop policy positions on such issues through consultation with our members.
  4. Meet with Representatives: We may meet with local and state government officials to understand or influence policy decisions. However, as we are not a political action committee (PAC), we will not endorse candidates as an organization or raise or spend money to elect and defeat candidates.
  5. Hold Networking Events: We may organize events where business leaders can meet with government officials and legislators to discuss issues and share their perspectives.
  6. Engage in Educational Campaigns: We may educate members and the broader community about important issues and how they impact local businesses.
  7. Build Coalitions: We may work with other organizations to build support for or against specific initiatives.
  8. Engage with the Media: We may use our media channels to advocate for our positions and inform the public and government officials about the needs and contributions of the local business community.
